Graphic Design

5 bits of advice to my teenage self…

  • You’re not stupid, and you’ll enjoy learning when you find the things you’re really interested in

  • You might be gay, that’s ok

  • Don’t be afraid to express yourself – don’t worry about what others might think

  • Find stillness

  • You’re not odd and people love you

About me

As a teenager…

I felt that I was a bit odd. Creative? I think I saw the world differently to a lot of my peers. Comedy and art were my favourite worlds to explore, and probably still are.

After school…

My teachers nudged me to do a foundation course in Art & Design, which I loved, which then led to a BA in Graphic Design, which I also loved. I moved to Amsterdam and worked there for a bit, for a laugh, then came back to seek a career in Graphic Design. I met my wife on my return, got some design experience and a while later we set up our web and graphic design business together, Moonloft. I also got a bit distracted and decided to do a few courses in joinery, plumbing, plastering and tiling. I like a practical skill.

Now I’m…
Still enjoying working at Moonloft, and recently went back to uni to wrestle a Masters in Psychology of Advertising. It’s really hard but I think it will be worth the effort. In my spare time I do pottery, joinery, hiking and jigsaws (don’t tell anyone).
