Escape2Make values the incredible generosity and skill-set of our amazing volunteers. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them. We are looking for volunteers who are available, reliable and committed to helping young people. Could you be the compassionate role model that we’re looking for?
Escape2Make is a Lancaster and Morecambe-based charity that offers 11–18-year-olds opportunities that you can’t find in schools. Through a range of different creative programs and workshops, Escape2Make aims to bring young people away from the struggles of every-day life to make something and meet people.
E2M is incredibly grateful for the volunteering support that is crucial for us to be able to do what we do best. We value our volunteer support and are always looking to increase our number of dependable volunteers.
We want to know your story! Volunteering is as much about you as it is about us.
That’s why we ask that you please forward us a paragraph or two about why you want to join us as a volunteer and what you are hoping to achieve from the experience. You can also include a CV if you like so we can find out more about your interests and experience.
We want to make sure the experience of volunteering is mutually beneficial- and in order to do this, we need to know a bit about yourself.
Benefits include:
Alternatively, if you would like to have a conversation with a member of our team first, that’s also possible! Just e-mail info@escape2make.org and we will organise a phone conversation or meeting.
The more opportunities that we can offer to young people, the better! That’s why we are always growing and diversifying our projects.
We understand that volunteering is a big commitment and we want you to feel secure and valued- so it’s good to communicate about when might be a good/bad time to volunteer.
Our ongoing clubs run constantly throughout the year and take place on weekday evenings. You can consult the ‘Clubs’ page of our website to see more detailed information.
We also aim to have big projects happen every Summer. So the months of July/August will usually be filled with lots of volunteering opportunities.
If you are available over that period- there is the opportunity to get involved with the most exciting and adventurous parts of the E2M calendar!
We’re committed to working with you to find the right balance. You can volunteer as much or as little as you like with us- we just ask that you keep an open line of communication with us and reliably turn up to events you’ve told us you’ll turn up to!
Volunteering has increased my confidence in my own abilities, and I have learned more about young people. I look forward to each bike club and craft club session as they are always fun and they make me feel good too.

Using this link, sign up to let us know a bit about you and why you want to volunteer.
We will then reach out within 2 weeks to discuss.
We will arrange to meet you either in-person or via a phone call to chat about your involvement. We can talk about what you’d like to get out of volunteering and if the opportunity is right for you.
You will need to provide us with a full name, e-mail address and date of birth for us to process an enhanced DBS check for you. There will be no cost attached to this on your behalf. We require all adults in E2M sessions to have this in place before volunteering.
You will need to provide us with the e-mail addresses for two referees. These can be previous employers, teachers, mentors or personal references. We will reach out to these people confidentially. We will need to receive your two references before you can start volunteering with us.
E2M will provide you with mandatory online safeguarding training to complete. The training is from the National Youth Agency and is CPD certified. This may take a maximum of 4 hours to complete, but can likely be completed in less time. This training will be free to complete and can be used as a transferable certification. This will need to be completed with a certificate sent to E2M before you can start volunteering with us.
Once all training and references are complete we will allocate you a session based on our initial conversation.
You are never alone, we will support you throughout the process and can always be contacted for questions or feedback.
Speak to us about how we can support your volunteer journey. Is there a qualification you’re striving towards? Do you want to be part of a valuable network? Are you seeking work experience? Let us know how we can help you and we’ll work to give you the best possible volunteering experience.
If you find you aren’t enjoying the experience or are struggling with it for any reason please let us know and we will do what we can to improve this for you.
