The E2M Centre

56 Church Street, Lancaster, LA1 1LH

Lancaster & Morecambe’s hub for creativity for 11-18 year olds! A world of fun, a space for self-expression and a home for kindness!

Escape2Make moved into its home in February of 2025 and we couldn’t be happier! It is a space made by young people, for young people – designed by our Youth Board, with all of the bells and whistles being made during the E2M Fair 2025, by young people in sessions who upcycled furniture, made botanical art pieces, painted a mural and made the space a home.

Accessibility at the E2M Centre

The E2M Centre is proudly an inclusive space for all. If you spot any ways that E2M can improve accessibility in the Centre, please reach out to us on info@escape2make.org

Escape2Make is a space for everyone. We do not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment or discrimination. E2M’s Behaviour Policy details E2M’s firm stance on inclusion and treating everyone with respect.

All young people at Escape2Make are required to agree to the Kindness Contract, which ensures that participants are kind to others, the space they’re in and themselves.

Both the Behaviour Policy and Kindness Contract can be found on our Policies page

We endeavour to keep the Centre as warm as possible. This is more difficult in the Winter than the Summer, but there is a full central heating system that keeps the Centre warm, which anyone can request for a staff member or facilitator to turn on at any time.

There are also a collection of blankets (some of them are weighted blankets) that can be asked for. Simply let an adult know you’d like one and they’ll fetch one for you.

The Centre is wheelchair accessible, with a small ramped floor outside the front door. All activity takes place on the ground floor level, including the office for staff & meetings, the kitchen and the bathrooms.

There is no wheelchair accessible route to the basement, but this area is only used for storage and only needs to be accessed by one facilitator, assistant or volunteer per session.

There are two toilets on the ground floor of the Centre (at the back, near the kitchen). Both are gender neutral and have sinks, locks and are stocked with adequate toiletry supplies, including sanitary bins. One of the two toilets is a spacious, accessible toilet.

Not just anyone can walk into the E2M Centre. When you arrive, please press the buzzer to the left of the door. This should ring the buzzer sound, alerting someone inside to open the door for you.

Only adults are permitted to answer the door. We ask that under 18s don’t answer the door for safety reasons. The only people answering the door should be adults wearing E2M t-shirts or E2M staff.

For every session held at the E2M Centre, Escape2Make will reimburse your bus fare to remove financial barriers and encourage environmentally conscious ways of travelling to sessions.

Ask your facilitator or a staff member to reimburse bus fare at your next session to receive up to £4.50 back.

You must show them a valid ticket on the day of travel that they will either need to keep a copy of or photograph.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to pick up and use any of E2M’s collection of stim toys that we keep on the cabinet to the right hand side wall when you enter the E2M Centre. These are great for those who have ADHD or autism or for anyone who would benefit from keeping their hands busy or their attention focused on something. You don’t need to ask for these, just take them! We simply ask that you return them where you found them afterwards and please take care of them while you use them.

Escape2Make is full of wonderful people. From our facilitators, assistants & volunteers who you’ll meet in sessions, to the staff team who work out of the E2M Centre, to the team of incredible Trustees and Advisors who help behind the scenes!

You can learn about everyone involved at Escape2Make on the People page.
