E2M Heritage Festival 2026

Our 2026 Heritage Festival gave 11-18s the opportunity to learn about their local heritage and showcase their findings through a collection of creative practices. The event took place in Dalton Square, the E2M Centre & The Storey in Lancaster.

E2M worked in collaboration with Lancaster City Museums and the Lancaster Black History Group to bring stories of Lancaster & Morecambe’s heritage to 11-18s and give them the opportunities to create art based on it. Over Summer 2026, young people worked on a collection of creative pieces themed around local heritage that included:

  • Chocolate Making
  • Discovering Witches
  • Gargoyle Making
  • Local Legends
  • Lino Printing
  • Clay Carving
  • Giant Shrimp Creation
  • Would You Survive the 1600s Interactive Filmmaking
  • and more!

The Heritage Festival event didn’t just happen in Lancaster, but was also brought to 6 different locations around the North-West in museums & heritage sites across Lancashire & Cumbria, including:

  • The Tullie, Carlisle
  • Clitheroe Castle, Clitheroe
  • Abbot Hall, Kendal
  • Windermere Jetty Museum, Windermere
  • The Harris, Preston
  • Towneley Hall, Burnley
