As a teenager…

I always loved art and drawing. I could spend hours copying cartoons, completely absorbed in the details. That practice paid off when I did my work experience painting a kids’ party room in a Jungle Book theme, a project I loved every minute of. When I wasn’t drawing, I was outdoors, cycling to visit and look after a horse called Shannon. Creativity and nature were my escape, and both gave me freedom in different ways.

After school…

I loved art so much, but I didn’t see how it could become a career. That’s why I chose to study graphic design at college, it felt like a way of turning something I enjoyed into something practical and professional. That choice set me on a path I hadn’t fully imagined at the time but one that’s shaped my whole future.

Now I’m…

The proud owner of my own design and branding business, which I’ve been running for over 10 years. What started as a love for art and creativity has grown into a career where I help other people and organisations tell their stories, build their brands, and connect with audiences. Every project still gives me that same buzz I felt as a teenager drawing cartoons or painting murals, it’s just on a bigger scale now.

5 bits of advice to my teenage self…

  • Be yourself. Don’t worry so much about what others think, they’re more bothered about what you think of them
  • Experiment. Try things out and explore, because the world is full of opportunities
  • Don’t be scared if you grow out of friendship, new ones will come along that suit you better
  • Whatever you do, do it with passion
  • Play. Life is serious enough, make sure you keep space for fun
