Register an accountAce inventors (aged 11 – 18) are urgently needed for a vital mission to create a cross-bay communication device.
Do you like design, making and technology? If so, we need you to help Artist Liz Clough come up with an invention to send messages across the Bay.
Over 4 days of workshops we will use drawing, sound recording, making, and imaginative discussion in order to dream up some weird and wonderful communication devices. We will then work towards making one for real, When it is finished, our magical machine will be able to make contact with a group of young people on the other side of Morecambe Bay, in Barrow in Furness.
Liz Clough is a multi disciplinary artist working with a wide range of materials and methods both in her studio and in the community, to create permanent artworks in the public realm, private commissions and community projects. She is currently making giant earthworm/listening devices for an upcoming exhibition at Sizergh Castle, was recently commissioned by King Charles to make permanent centrepieces for the maze gardens at Sandringham House and earlier this year enjoyed working with young people at Escape to Make, encouraging experimental exploration of materials and making methods and producing a collaborative exhibition of sculpture and printmaking.
This project is inspired by her collaborations with real life inventor Tim Hunkin who is famous for making wacky homemade arcade machines.
