Calling all 11-18s: Sign up to help produce Escape2Make's Green Festival

Escape2Make (E2M), the Lancaster and Morecambe-based youth-led charity, is excited to announce the return of its second Green Festival on Saturday, August 24th, 2024. Following the success of last year’s event, this festival promises a day of fun and creativity for 11-18s in Morecambe.

Saul Argent, E2M’s Chief Operating Officer, says, “Our first Green Festival in 2022 was such a hit that our youth board insisted on doing it again.”

Throughout the summer, E2M will partner with professional practitioners and artists to offer young people a series of free creative workshops with a green theme, each consisting of five sessions. These workshops will cover a range of activities, from graphic design to wild cooking, pottery to outdoor animation. Thanks to the generous support from Rathbones, The Areti Trust, You are The Star, and the Walney Community Trust, these workshops will be accessible to all 11-18-year-olds in Lancaster & Morecambe.

In addition to numerous free creative programs, there will be free one-off workshops like Pillow Fort Cinema, Kite Flying, Healthy Drink Making, Film in a Day, and VR Campfire.

“At E2M, we want to give young people an alternative to screen time and gaming and encourage them to get outside during the long summer holidays,” says Kyle McKenzie, Escape2Make’s production executive. “Last year, it was great to see young people from all walks of life come together and enjoy activities like foraging, wild cooking, making candles around campfires, and fixing bikes.

General sign-up for these workshops will start on Monday, June 17th, with 217 spaces available for teens from the Lancaster and Morecambe area.

The Green Festival will take place on Saturday, August 24th, from 11am to 4pm in Morecambe. Alongside the workshops, attendees can enjoy free music and theatre performances, food and drink vendors, and activities suitable for all ages.

All young people age 11-18 in the Lancaster/Morecambe area are invited to sign up for free here.
